  • Peter M. Hey , DVM


    Dr. Pete Hey grew up on a ranch in Mason, Texas working cattle and goats. Dr. Hey then went on to College Station where he earned his DVM from the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 1989. He met his wife, Maria, just as he was headed out the door to graduate.  They were married in 1991 just a few months before Dr. Maria graduated with her DVM. They have three beautiful children, Gabriel, Malachi, and Hannah.  When not providing dedicated surgical and medical care for his patients, Dr. Hey spends most of his time off with his family. He loves the beach and also enjoys getting back home to the ranch when he can.  If Dr. Hey isn't at baseball or driving a child to swim practice, he is searching for cool old cars or preparing something mouth watering on the grill.  The Hey family has an array of pets as seen in Dr. Maria Hey's bio.
  • Jennifer A. Halberg , DVM


    Dr. Halberg was born in Houston, Texas and moved to San Antonio in the early 80's. She attended Clark High School, Mary Baldwin College for her undergrad, and Texas A&M University for her doctorate of veterinary medicine.
    Her interests include working out and staying physically fit, reading, listening to music, and going to concerts and musicals. She is married and has a 7 year old daughter, a labrador retriever named Jager, a mixed breed named Madchen, and a domestic short hair named Tigger. Dr. Halberg has been with the Deerfield family since 2007.
  • Anne M Faseler , DVM


    Dr. Faseler was born in McAllen, Tx; moved around until she was 6 yrs old because her father was in the Army.  She grew up in Plano, Tx  for 29yrs, then moved to San Antonio area in December of 2004.  Dr. Faseler attented Texas A&M University for her bachelors in Veterinary Science and received her doctorate of veterinary medicine in 1994.  She is a full-time mother/wife! She has been married to Steve Faseler for over 20 years and they have 4 beautiful daughters that keep her very busy.  She enjoys being involved in her daughter's activities including band, athletics, and 4H. She loves wathcing football and is active in the church and women's ministries. Sadly, all this leaves little time for scrapbooking. The Faseler family have two german short-haired pointers named Wesley and Hunter, a miniature schnauzer named Dolly, a cat name Skye, two rabbits named Precious and Spot, a dumbo rat named Indy, and two amazon river frogs named Shrek and Baby. 
  • Danny Gradel , DVM


    Dr. Gradel is from Lubbock, Texas where he attended Texas Tech University for his preveterinary curriculum and then graduated from Texas A&M University in 1995 with a doctorate of veterinary medicine. His hobbies include golf, jogging, photography (including microscopic photos), occasionally cooking, and listening to local live music. He has a 10 year old cat named Cassandra.

  • Maria T. Hey, DVM , Practice Manager/Veterinarian


    Dr. Maria Hey grew up in Amarillo, Texas where her love of animals began. She then headed off to College Station, where she earned her bachelors degree in biochemistry and her DVM from the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine.  It is there where she met her husband, Dr. Pete Hey.  They were married in 1991, just a few months before her graduation.  They now have three beautiful children, Gabriel, Malachai, and Hannah.  Dr. Maria Hey also has a passion for photography, as you will quickly notice just by stepping into Deerfield Animal Hospital's doors.  In addition to her positions as Practice Manager and Mom, she runs a small part-time photography busniess, Maria Hey Photography.  The Hey family has a number of pets including three cats (Angel, C.C. and Pirate), three dogs (Scamp, Scooby, and Woody), a horse named Pudge and a turtle named Heraldo.  You can meet C.C. when you walk in the doors at Deerfield; she is our infamous "greeter".
  • Alana M. Landrum , Office Manager


    Alana was born and raised in McAllen, Texas where upon graduating from Memorial High School moved to San Antonio to attend the University of Texas. She graduated with a bachelors degree in Business Management. Her interests include horse show jumping and spending time with her family and friends. She has two beautiful daughters, Jenna is 12 years and Kendyll is 9 months old. She has a pembroke welsh corgi named Kayli and a black Irish Sport Horse named Bejeweled (Jewels).

  • Sheila Moore , Administrative Assistant


    Sheila was born in Massachusetts. Her father was in the Air Force which moved them frequently until they finally settled in San Antonio in 1965. She attended MacArthur High School and graduated in 1970. Her interests include running half marathons around the country with a group of her high school friends, scrapbooking and stained glass. She has a 9 year old basset hound named Gracie and a 3 year old adoptee from ADL named Daisy. She is married with three children, one stepchild and five grandchildren.
Technician Staff

  • Tina Finley, RVT , Head Technician


    Tina was born in Guam ans as a military dependant grew up in Hawaii and Japan.  She is bilingual speaking both Japanese and English.  She attended San Jose State University in California where she obtained her BS in Biochemistry.  She is working on her Masters of Secondary Education in Biology. She has a 16yr old named Austin, a 10yr old named Kalea, 4 cats named Fuji, Romeo, Hatti, and Bizzie, 3 dogs named Lipstik, Smores and Hank, and finally a Chinchilla named Tak.
    Tina has been a technician for 20 years, licensed in three different states as an RVT and has worked all over the United States in small animal specialy internal medicine, critical care, intensive care unit; equine anesthesia for colic surgeries, Wildlife/Zoo Animal and Exotics.  My hobbies include Cheerleading and Gymnastics.
  • Amanda Keyworth, RVT


    Amanda was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. She received her veterinary technician license from Palo Alto College and her bachelors in management from the University of Phoenix. Her interests include scrapbooking and jewelry making. She has two chow mixes named Casey and Shadow, a DSH named Pilgrim, and a Siamese Mix named Mr. Nibbles. Amanda also now has a very hyper Boxer named Phoenix.  She got married on October 7, 2006. She has been a part of the Deerfield family since 2004.
  • Nancy Kuo , Technician


    Nancy was born and raised in Plano, Texas. She moved to McAllen, Texas in 1994 for 6 years and has lived in San Antonio for the past 5 years. She attended the University of Texas at Austin and received her bachelor of science degree in Zoology in 2006. Her interests include swimming, being outside in the sun, reading books and drinking Starbucks.  She loves food and has a very bad sweet tooth. She has two cats: Blue, her "laid back" cool cat, and Luna, her "miss priss-don't touch me" cat. She has been a part of the Deerfield family since 2006.
  • Jessica St. Clair , Technician


    Jessica was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. She is currently attending Palo Alto College. Her interests include going to the beach and movies. She has three DSH cats named Poo Wee, Kit Kat and Toby. She has one brother and a twin sister. She had a son named Daylyn on October 3, 2010. Jessica has been with the Deerfield family since 2008.
  • Rachel Beard , Technician


    Rachel was born in Houston and will be getting married in July.  In her free time, she loves riding horses, fishing, or riding motorcycles with her fiance. She has been working with animals all her life and decided to make it her career in 2005 when she graduated from the Vet Technician Institute of Houston with an AAS in Veterinary Technology. She is now moving forward with her education through St. petersburg College where she plans to receive her Bachelor Degree in Veterinary Technology.

  • Lisa Ellis , Head Receptionist


    Lisa was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. She enjoys baking and scrapbooking. She has a Chihuahua named Jersey and three cats named Tieken, Cayu and Kasper. Lisa and a baby girl named Jordyn on June 28, 2011. Her new collection consists of many Winnie the Pooh items, especially Eeyore, for the baby.  Lisa has been with the Deerfield family since 2003.
  • Chelsey Risica


    Chelsey was born and raised in McAllen, Texas where she graduated from McAllen Memorial High School. She is currently studying to become a teacher. Her interests include baking, listening to music, traveling, dancing, watching movies, and shopping. She has a 7 year old pomeranian mix named Zeke, a 2 year mixed named Zarina, and a cat named Rich Kitty. She is getting married Oct 8, 2011 in McAllen, Tx. She loves spending time with her family and her favorite color is pink.  Chelsey has been with the Deerfield family since 2008.

  • David Marszalek


    David was born in Wittlich, Germany. he moved to San Antonio when he was about 4 years old. He graduated from James Madison High School in 2008. His interests include hiking, photography, skateboarding, music and art. He has two dogs named Maus and Peggy and two Sugar Gliders named Momo and Hyde.
  • Jamie MacGregor


    Jaime was born and raised in San Antonio, TX.  She graduated from Churchill HIgh School in 2009 and is currently enrolled at the University of Incarnate Word to obtain her bachelors in Biology.  Jaim's interests include horseback riding, sketching and photography.  She has an Australian Shepherd mix named DC.  She has been with the Deerfield family since 2011.
  • Jaimie St. Clair


    Jaime St. Clair has work for Deerfield Animal Hospital since September 2011 and loves helping and taking care of all the animals.  She loves taking care of her nephew baby Daylyn, socializing with her friends, reading and listening to music.  She has one cat named Toby.
