  • Peter M. Hey , DVM


    Dr. Pete Hey grew up on a ranch in Mason, Texas working cattle and goats. Dr. Hey then went on to College Station where he earned his DVM from the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 1989. He met his wife, Maria, just as he was headed out the door to graduate. They were married in 1991 just a few months before Dr. Maria graduated with her DVM. They have three beautiful children, Gabriel, Malachi, and Hannah. When not providing dedicated surgical and medical care for his patients, Dr. Hey spends most of his time off with his family.He loves the beach and also enjoys getting back home to the ranch when he can. If Dr. Hey isn't driving carpool, he is searching for cool old cars or preparing something mouth watering on the grill. The Hey family has an array of pets as seen in Dr. Maria Hey's bio.
  • Jennifer A. Halberg , DVM


    Dr. Halberg was born in Houston, Texas and moved to San Antonio in the early 80's. She attended Clark High School, Mary Baldwin College for her undergrad, and Texas A&M University for her doctorate of veterinary medicine.
    Her interests include working out and staying physically fit, reading, listening to music, and going to concerts and musicals. She is married and has a 7 year old daughter, a labrador retriever named Jager, a mixed breed named Madchen, and a domestic short hair named Tigger. Dr. Halberg has been with the Deerfield family since 2007.
  • Anne M Faseler , DVM


    Dr. Faseler was born in McAllen, Tx; moved around until she was 6 yrs old because her father was in the Army.  She grew up in Plano, Tx  for 29yrs, then moved to San Antonio area in December of 2004.  Dr. Faseler attented Texas A&M University for her bachelors in Veterinary Science and received her doctorate of veterinary medicine in 1994.  She is a full-time mother/wife! She has been married to Steve Faseler for over 20 years and they have 4 beautiful daughters that keep her very busy.  She enjoys being involved in her daughter's activities including band, athletics, and 4H. She loves wathcing football and is active in the church and women's ministries. Sadly, all this leaves little time for scrapbooking. The Faseler family have two german short-haired pointers named Wesley and Hunter, a miniature schnauzer named Dolly, a cat name Skye, two rabbits named Precious and Spot, a dumbo rat named Indy, and two amazon river frogs named Shrek and Baby. 
  • Stacey S. Kronewetter


    Dr. Kronewetter comes to us by way of El Paso, Texas. She attended Texas A&I University in Kingsville and earned a Bachelors Degree in Animal Science. While working on her Masters degree, she was accepted into Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine, "War Eagle!" Her original plans with her DVM degree was to enter the field of animal research, but fate pushed her into general practice. She has worked all over this state as a practitioner and relief work. She loves general surgery especially cosmetic and soft tissue cases, dentistry and feline medicine. When not a War King, she is an avid DIY'er, a wood worker, an amateur chef and a beginner wine connoisseur. She has 2 pugs, Gracie and Bobi, and a Bengal-mix cat named Lily.
Management Staff

  • Maria T. Hey, DVM , Practice Manager/Veterinarian


    Dr. Maria Hey grew up in Amarillo, Texas where her love of animals began. She then headed off to College Station, where she earned her bachelors degree in biochemistry and her DVM from the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine. It is there where she met her husband, Dr. Pete Hey. They were married in 1991, just a few months before her graduation. They now have three beautiful children, Gabriel, Malachai, and Hannah.  Dr. Maria Hey also has a passion for photography, as you will quickly notice just by stepping into Deerfield Animal Hospital's doors. In addition to her positions as Practice Manager and Mom, she runs a small part-time photography busniess, Maria Hey Photography. The Hey family has a number of pets including three cats (Angel, C.C. and KiKi)and two dogs (Scooby and Woody). You can meet C.C. or Kiki when you walk in the doors at Deerfield; she is our infamous "greeter".
  • Alana M. Landrum , Office Manager


    Alana was born and raised in McAllen, Texas where upon graduating from Memorial High School moved to San Antonio to attend the University of Texas. She graduated with a bachelors degree in Business Management. Her interests include horse show jumping and spending time with her family and friends. She has two beautiful daughters, Jenna is 17 years and Kendyll is 5 yrs old. She has pembroke welsh corgi named Kayli, a terrier named Baby Girl, a boxer named Cheswick, and a long-haired tabby named Sadie.

    Tiffany is 24 years old and has lived in San Antonio her entire life. She has 2 cats named Marc Anthony and Cleopatra. When she is not studying or working, she enjoys cooking, arts and crafts, and going to the beach as often as possible. Her goals are to be a Veterinary Technciian and even maybe a Veterinarian one day.

  • Amanda , Licensed Vet Technician


    Amanda was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. She received her veterinary technician license from Palo Alto College and her bachelors in management from the University of Phoenix. Her interests include scrapbooking and jewelry making. She has two chow mixes named Casey and Shadow, a DSH named Pilgrim, and a Siamese Mix named Mr. Nibbles. Amanda also now has a very hyper Boxer named Phoenix.  She got married on October 7, 2006. She has been a part of the Deerfield family since 2004.
  • Nancy , Technician


    Nancy was born and raised in Plano, Texas. She moved to McAllen, Texas in 1994 for 6 years and has lived in San Antonio for the past 5 years. She attended the University of Texas at Austin and received her bachelor of science degree in Zoology in 2006. Her interests include swimming, being outside in the sun, reading books and drinking Starbucks.  She loves food and has a very bad sweet tooth. She has two cats: Blue, her "laid back" cool cat, and Luna, her "miss priss-don't touch me" cat. She has been a part of the Deerfield family since 2006.

    Erin grew up in San Antonio. She enjoys jogging, horse racing, shopping, and being with her family.  She has 2 dogs named Georgia and Bailey and 2 cats named Biggie and Jack.  She got married in Augus of 2011 and have a beautiful daughter named Kyndal.

    Carolyn was born in Houston, TX and moved to San Antonio when she was 12 years old. After High School, she moved to Fairbanks, Alaska for a new life experience. She enjoyed her experience but was happy to come home July of 2014. She has been a veterinary technician since 2007 and has a true life passion. She has worked in emergency, specialty, and clinical veterinary medicine, but her favorite is preventative/clinical care. She feels blessed to have the opportunity to work for Deerfield Animal Hospital and wants to finish her career with us.

  • Lisa , Head Receptionist


    Lisa was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas.She enjoys baking and scrapbooking. She has a Chihuahua named Jersey and three cats named Tieken, Cayu and Kasper. Lisa had a baby girl named Jordyn on June 28, 2011. Her new collection consists of many Winnie the Pooh items, especially Eeyore, for the baby. Lisa has been with the Deerfield family since 2003.

    Chelsey was born and raised in McAllen, Texas where she graduated from McAllen Memorial High School. Her interests include baking, listening to music, traveling, dancing, watching movies, and shopping. She has a 7 year old pomeranian mix named Zeke, 2 year old mix named Zarina, and a cat named Rich Kitty. Chelsey and her husband have two beautiful boys, Cheston born 08/04/2012 and Cason born 05/03/2014. She is currently working on achieving her Bachelors Degree in Education. Chelsey has been with the Deerfield family since 2008 and loves working here, being a full-time student and most of all, she loves being a mommy!
  • Molly


    Molly grew up in San Antonio, Texas. She has a kitty named Chico, a maltipoo named Woody and a Yorkshire terrier mix named Missy Bear. They all have her wrapped around their "paws". In her past time, she loves to cook, go swimming and of course, SHOP! She started her journey here at Deerfield Animal Hospital as a kennel technician and after six months, worked her way up to being a receptionist. She loves this position because she has the ability to interact with clients more on a daily basis.

    Jackie was born in Midland, Texas where she graduated from Midland Senior High school. She earned her Bachelors degree in Biology from the University of Texas in San Antonio. She is married to an aspiring doctor named Dale who attends medical school at the UTHSCA in San Antonio.
Kennel Staff

    David was born in Wittlich, Germany. he moved to San Antonio when he was about 4 years old. He graduated from James Madison High School in 2008. His interests include hiking, photography, skateboarding, music and art. He has two dogs named Maus and Peggy and two Sugar Gliders named Momo and Hyde.
  • Nicole


    Nicole has worked at Deerfield since January 2014. She is currently in the veterinary technician program at Palo Alto College. She has 2 dogs, a very happy hyper lab mix named Olive that she took home from Deerfield one day, and a very large lazy lab mix name Hunter. She has land out in Hondo, TX that her fur babies love to go to run and play while Nicole helps her dad care for the cattle. She also has a very old cat named Jade who loves to snuggle!
  • Samantha


    Samantha was born in Laurel, Maryland and moved to Atlanta, GA after college. Ten months ago, she moved on to San Antonio to be closer to her cousin who is stationed at Lackland AFB. She was automatically drawn to Deerfield and knew she wanted to work here as soon as she walked through the door. She has had a cocker spaniel named Bo and an Airdale named sky, but this is her first time working for an animal hospital. She loves gaining experience in such a caring environment. She hopes to continue learning her and finding the perfect career for herself.
